SYSTEM ALERT: Personal profile information being erased when trying to update in IE

We are aware that any update to the 'Personal Profile' page using Internet Explorer erases all existing information on the channel page.

These updates include everything from uploading a new profile icon to making changes in the "About Me" section. Engineers are looking into this and it should be fixed very soon.

Meanwhile, please consider using a different browser to make changes to your 'Personal profile' page.

SYSTEM ALERT: Phishing emails being sent from non “@youtube.com” email addresses

We've recently had users complain about receiving messages that emulate our emails. We are aware that some people have been creating emails to appear as if they were sent from YouTube, and these seem to propagate phishing websites.

If you think you may have received a suspicious link, hover your cursor over the link to see where it's redirecting you (look in the lower left corner of your browser's status bar). If the link doesn't direct you to youtube.com, it's not from us.

If you've already clicked a suspicious link, you may want to scan your computer with anti-virus and anti-spyware software to discover any malicious software that may have been installed on your computer without your knowledge.

SYSTEM ALERT: Full Screen function not working across browsers

RESOLVED: We're currently having issues with the full screen function on youtube.com. Clicking the button doesn't cause any action. We're actively working to correct this problem and will update you when it's fixed.

This has been fixed. You should now be able to view videos in full screen mode.

SYSTEM ALERT: Search results updating slowly

RESOLVED: We're currently having some issues with the search index updating. Some of you may not have been able to find videos that you know are live on the site after upload. We're actively working to correct this problem and will update you when it's fixed.

UPDATE: JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player.

ERROR: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."
Users with ad-blocking software enabled may not be able to see videos due to a conflict with our flash detection code and may see this error. Our engineers are still working on resolving this issue but it is expected to be fixed soon. If you are unable to see any videos because of this issue, you may want to try temporarily disabling ad-blocking in your browser or security software. Thanks for your patience.

Update (10/29/2007, 3:41 pm PDT):
This issue has been resolved for users with ad-blocking software.

SYSTEM ALERT: Favorites link in user profile page

RESOLVED: We are currently experiencing issues with viewing the favorites of users who haven't uploaded any videos. When you try to view their favorite videos, you'll receive an error stating: "This user doesn't have any videos at this time!" We're currently working on this and hope to have it fixed shortly. RESOLVED: We're experiencing an issue with our mail server so you may not receive any emails that you request from our system. This includes confirmation emails, private messages, lost usernames and passwords, subscription updates, group invitations, updates to accounts, and sharing videos. This has been fixed. Search index is updating accurately now. Please search with the specified tags for your videos and sort it by the “Date Added” link to find your recently uploaded videos.

SYSTEM ALERT: Unable to approve video comments

RESOLVED: If you've set any of your videos to only display comments after you've approved them, you currently can't approve comments. When you click the "Approve" link next to any pending comments, you'll receive an error message. We're working to resolve this problem as quickly as possible, and will update you when it's been fixed.

RESOLVED: Some users have reported that certain videos become stuck on the loading screen when you try to play them. We are working with Internet Service Providers to resolve this issue and will have an update shortly.

SYSTEM ALERT: Unable to change passwords

RESOLVED: Currently, you're not able to change your YouTube password. If you try to make a change to your password, you'll receive an "Authorization Error" message. We're working to correct this issue shortly and will update you when it's been fixed.

Videos processing slowly

We're currently experiencing a very high volume of uploads, causing upload times to be significantly longer than usual. This issue should be resolved shortly and all videos that have been uploaded will become live on the site soon. If your video is in the processing stage, you don't need to reupload it. SYSTEM ALERT: Looking for your subscriptions?

RESOLVED: Our homepage subscription module has been temporarily disabled, so to find those videos, you’ll need to click the “My Subscriptions” link in your account. From there, you should be able to see the latest videos from users and tags to which you’ve subscribed. Our engineers are actively working to bring this module back to you – we’ll post an update if there’s any change.


Update (6/11/2007, 2:39 PM PDT):

We 've fixed the bug that caused the Subscriptions module to disappear from the homepage. You should now be able to access your subscriptions as your normally would.
